THOUGHT OF THE DAY: EDUCATE THEM
At the conference last year, in talking to parents of children with Moebius Syndrome, one of the things that struck me was this: when parents would find out their child had Moebius, they of course would learn all they could about it. But more often than you'd think, when they took their child to the doctor, sometimes he or she knew little about Moebius. The parent had to be the one educating his child's doctor concerning this condition.
Moral of the story? Don't be afraid to do just that. Moebius Syndrome is a rare condition. The vast, vast, vast majority of medical professionals do the best they can. But they might not have encountered Moebius before. You know your child best; you may very well know his or her condition better than anyone else. Don't be afraid to stand up and say so. :+)
